PRESS RELEASE 10/31/2011 PURPORA ENGINEERING RELASE NEW DIESEL BUG TEST KIT
Purpora Engineering have linked up with fuel quality management company Eurotank Environmental Ltd (UK) to introduce to the US market the Fuel Stat test kit. The fuel stat test kit is a ten minute pregnancy kit for microbial contamination. Microbial contamination is a major problem for the users and retailers of any of the heavier fuels like diesel and kerosene. With the introduction of ULSD fuels and Bio-diesels users have reported more frequent incidents of microbial contamintation. The results of these contaminations can result in filter plugging, sludges in the tanks, increased corrosions on metal parts and in the worst situations premature failure of storage vessels. In order to prevent severe disruption to operations and further problems it is important to catch the early stages of growth so that they can be treated, therefore avoiding major problems. For this reason Purpora Engineering have aquired the FuelStat. The simplicity of this method allows anyone to assess the quality of their fuel then by contacting Purpora the correct action to remmediate the issue can be selected.
A sample of either free water or fuel is taken from the storage vessel (ideally from the bottom of the tank) and placed in the plastic bottle, this is then shaken for ten seconds to mix it with the blue buffer solution. Using the special dropper cap on the bottle a few drops of the blue solution is then placed on each of the six paddles. The six paddles are gouped into two sets of three, these are looking for High and Low counts of General Bacteria, Fungi and Hormoconis Resinae (H.Res, a bacteria particualry associated with the Airline industry). After ten minutes the user can then establish if they have a problem in the tank.
